End Citizen United Quest To Reform The Campaign Finance System

Tiffany Muller, the President of End Citizen United, gave a declaration to the House of Representatives to moderate the campaigns finance protections. On a daily basis, the American people go through a lot of trouble caused by the enormous impact that emanates from special interests in politics and government. The campaign finance protection has had an influence towards healthcare costs, education as well as the stagnant wages. In her statement, Tiffany is urging the representative to put the American interests at heart.

Despite the calls to do so, the politicians continue sourcing for funds. The House of Republicans has been a platform that such measures go through and exerts more power and influence. Corporates, donors, and churches are used to conceal their interests and also to propel more money into the political elections. Through her statement, Tiffany Muller is urging the Senate to revisit the matter and decline the spending bill.

With the aim of reducing big money off politics, the End Citizen United is gearing up in raising money of their own. In three months, they managed to raise $4 million and are anticipating having $35 million in readiness of the midterm congressional elections that will take place in the year 2018. The contribution is set to be a remarkable achievement up from the $ 25 million collected in the year 2016. According to Muller, the PAC received an average contribution of $12 this year with 100,000 people contributing in the first quarter of the year. Out of that number, 40,000 were doing so for the first time. Most recent, the political action committee compelled its contributors to raise $500,000 in support of Jon Ossof who is in the race for Congress and is a fast time candidate. To the surprise of many in the political arena, Ossof managed to raise more than $4 million for the upcoming special elections.

End Citizen United operates as a conservative PAC and does not receive more than $5,000 from a person. ECU has also strengthened its ties with more than two dozen other campaign finance groups. The organization also went ahead to compel the Republican Senators to disqualify themselves from voting in Betsey Devos on her nomination as the Education Secretary under President Trump administration. Despite that, there was a draw, and the Vice President cast the tie-breaking vote placing her as the Education Secretary.

Andy Wirth King of the Mountain at Squaw Valley

Andy Wirth is the CEO of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings that owns and operates Squaw Valley and the adjacent Alpine Meadows ski resorts. He had his hands full defeating a challenge from a group wanting to incorporate Squaw Valley into the local community, taking control away from Wirth and adversely affecting the ski business.

Wirth has been an accomplished juggler, balancing the wishes of employees and business owners at Squaw Valley against the year-round residents and property owners living in this idyllic community where expansion is usually frowned on by residents but demanded by those working at the resort. He has proven to be an effective arbiter and spokesman for the resort and the residents. Skiers, employees, business owners and workers, and even residents respect his judgment in matters concerning Squaw Valley. Wirth was recently named chair of The Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority Board. He, also, has to be a meteorologist to handle the periodic droughts affecting the southern California area. As snowfall levels decrease and days skied become less with each passing year, Wirth must entertain new recreational ideas that include hosting of meetings and concerts on the grounds of Squaw Valley.

Wirth, recently, added a near death experience to his resume. He does everything with gusto whether in business or in his sport of skydiving. On one day off, he and friends were disappointed to learn that their local airstrip had closed for take-offs due to high winds. Not wanting to have to cancel plans they traveled to another area that was allowing flights. It was windy, but Wirth and friends were not to be dissuaded. Unfortunately, tragedy was lurking and being blown off his intended course Wirth found himself having to make a lethal choice. He could try to land close to a power line and chance electrocution or to land in a local vineyard. He chose the vineyard, crashing into the tightly strung wires supporting grape vines severing his arm from his body in the accident. He survived, his arm was reattached, and Wirth has now promised his wife and children that there will be no more skydiving. He has enough to do at work.

Among wealthy Democrats George Soros is seen as a sort of bellwether for his king making of future nominees. In 2004, he donated more than 20 million dollars to the various efforts to oust the incumbent George W. Bush and prevent a second term. Unfortunately, in 2012, he scaled back his contributions to a mere 1 million dollars to pro-Obama superPACs. It seemed as if his days of political spending were coming to an end. His renewed interest in this campaign represents a major comeback into the process of American presidential politics.
This donation should not come as surprising to anyone who has heard the life story of this man. In contrast to the generally conservative minded billionaires that tend to favor fiscally conservative Republican candidates, George Soros has long been a fan of more progressive causes. As one of the 30 wealthiest men in the world, he hasn’t shied away from using his 24 billion dollar fortune to advance his select political causes. He has donated to the Black Lives Matter movement and other social justice causes.

Born in Budapest in 1930, Soros has built a fortune using his remarkably accurate market predictions and wise financial investments. He sees an open society as key to providing the world a better future by looking at the long term implications of modern politics. Standing above the anger that has taken over political conversations, George Soros stands for social justice above all.
