Soap operas have been a prime source of daytime entertainment since their birth in the fifties. ABC Network writers created one of the most memorable soap operas to date named One Life To Live. The show aired in July of 1968 and the series ran for over 40 years, taking its final bow on ABC in January of 2012. The series was the first to ever feature a cast with ethnically and socioeconomic differences, as well as focusing around current social issues throughout the years.
The show primarily focused on the wealthy Lord family, with Victoria Lord becoming the main heroine. Throughout the story line Victoria faces many issues such as divorce, rape, love and loss, breast cancer and stroke. With such a long running show many characters came an went, leaving behind a more intricate and heart breaking plot twists. One of those characters was Stacy Morasco, who was introduced in 2009.
Played by American actress Crystal Hunt, Stacy was directly related to one of the main cast members, Gigi. Stacy is found by her sister in Vegas working as a stripper, and decides to return with Gigi and Rex. Rex’s son is diagnosed with leukemia and Stacy finds out about a donor match then lies, claiming she’s the match. She uses her lie as blackmail to force Gigi to leave Rex. Stacy’s lie eventually comes to light but before Gigi breaks her silence Stacy beds Rex, resulting in a pregnancy. Stacy has a miscarriage, but in order to keep Rex she tricks Oliver Fisher into sleeping with her and claims it’s Rex’s baby.
Rex’s astranged, crazy father kidnaps Stacy with plans to steal the baby until he finds out the truth. Gigi finds Stacy in the snow during a blizzard and brings her back to Victoria’s cabin where she gives birth, but her daughter needs medical attention. Stacy looses her life after jumping into a frozen lake to save her daughter and Gigi after they’d fallen in when Gigi went to find help for the baby.
Wikipedia says Crystal Hunt was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award for her role as Stacy as well as another role in The Guiding Light. She started her career in big name commercials for companies like Walt Disney and for Anti-Drug campaigns along side N*Sync. Hunt recently debuted her first feature film as a director, Talbot County.
